TRIO VARIATIONS
Trio Variations is danced by Louise Dahl, Liz Kinoshita, and Hana Erdman with new music by Shida Shahabi. The dancers play in a field where tension, expectation, and surprise compose the space, and where the figure of three never settles.

The dance drives forward while letting go, in a call to attune to forces we see and don’t see: the push and pull between one another, the currents inside us and among us, the pull of gravity, the weight of bodies.

Inspired by Bach’s intricate musical structures, where independent voices intertwine, this piece looks at how multiple paths, gestures, and moments can coexist and overlap, carried by the momentum of the room and the gravitational force of the music. In this work, variation is not deviation but devotion: an act of returning, of listening, of keeping relation alive through transformation.
